About GlowPulse – Heart-rate monitor for Mac & iPhone
Overview
GlowPulse turns the camera on your Mac or iPhone into a heart-rate sensor. It measures real-time BPM, HRV, and focus sessions entirely on-device — no wearable, no cloud, no account. Camera frames are processed and discarded in real time, and the app works fully offline with no telemetry and no servers.
The app is free to download with a 3-day full trial, then 3 free readings a day of up to an hour each. Premium costs $4.99/year or $9.99 for a lifetime unlock, purchased via Lemon Squeezy or through the Mac App Store on Mac and the App Store on iPhone.
Key Benefits
- Live BPM and HRV measured straight from the camera on Mac and iPhone
- All processing stays on-device; camera frames are discarded in real time
- No account, no telemetry, and no cloud round-trip; works fully offline
- Pomodoro focus blocks of 15, 25, or 50 minutes with your pulse as ground truth
- 30-second stress check rates you calm, neutral, or elevated against your personal baseline
- Signal reported as Strong, Fair, Weak, or No signal so you know when not to trust a reading
How It Works
GlowPulse uses remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), measuring the tiny periodic color shifts in your skin from each heartbeat. The default POS algorithm (Wang et al. 2017) runs locally on your CPU or Neural Engine, with an optional DeepPhys Core ML model for low light or slight head motion. Readings span a 45–180 BPM range, bandpass-filtered to physiological frequencies.
Use Cases
- Remote workers track resting heart rate during the workday without strapping on a device
- Students and developers pace focus with a pulse-grounded Pomodoro timer
- People aiming to lift HRV follow the 5-seconds-in, 5-seconds-out resonance breathing protocol
- Busy professionals run a 30-second stress check to see if they are calm, neutral, or elevated
- Privacy-conscious users get heart-rate tracking with no account, no analytics, and no cloud
Why Choose This Product
GlowPulse keeps every calculation on your device and is open about its accuracy, tested against a Polar H10 and rated Strong, Fair, Weak, or No signal. Heavy makeup and dark rooms degrade readings, and the page is clear that it is a wellness tool, not a medical device and not a replacement for an Apple Watch or chest strap.

Frequently asked questions about GlowPulse – Heart-rate monitor for Mac & iPhone
Does GlowPulse work with makeup, beards, or glasses?
Glasses are fine. Heavy foundation or full-coverage concealer can degrade or break the reading because rPPG detects tiny color shifts in your skin from each heartbeat. Light, sheer makeup usually still works but with a weaker signal. Beards reduce the usable area, so GlowPulse uses your forehead and cheeks and just needs a couple more seconds.
Is GlowPulse a replacement for an Apple Watch?
No. An Apple Watch or chest strap measures more conditions and supports clinical use. GlowPulse is for ambient wellness — knowing your resting trend while you work, without strapping anything on.
Does it work in low light?
It needs visible light on your face. Office and daylight are fine. In pitch dark or with screen-only light, accuracy drops and GlowPulse reports Weak or No signal instead of a wrong number.
What devices does GlowPulse support?
Any Mac on macOS 13.5 (Ventura) or later — Apple Silicon and Intel — and any iPhone on iOS 18 or later. M-series Macs get the optional DeepPhys Core ML backend, Intel Macs run the POS algorithm, and iPhone uses the Neural Engine.
Do you store my video or face data?
No. Frames are processed in memory and discarded. GlowPulse writes no video, image, or biometric template to disk. The privacy commitment is the product.
What is the difference between Lemon Squeezy and the App Store?
GlowPulse is free to download either way, with the same Premium at $4.99/year or $9.99 lifetime. The Mac App Store is convenient and uses your Apple ID. Lemon Squeezy is a direct purchase with a license key by email and faster updates without the review queue. iPhone is App Store only.
