About Astra Security

Overview

Astra Security is a continuous pentest platform that pairs autonomous AI-powered testing with CREST-accredited human pentesters. It scans web applications, APIs and cloud infrastructure for vulnerabilities, then hands developers clear steps to reproduce and fix each issue. The company launched continuous pentesting as PTaaS in 2020, serves more than 1,000 engineering teams, and operates from offices in the USA and Bangalore with a team of 100+ people.

Four products run on one platform: PTaaS for pentesting at development speed, a DAST scanner that tests behind login screens, an API Security Platform that discovers undocumented endpoints, and a Cloud Vulnerability Scanner for AWS, Azure and GCP. A shared dashboard and Trust Center let security teams track fixes and share evidence with customers, auditors or the board.

Key Benefits

  • Combines autonomous AI scanning with expert-led pentests in one continuous workflow instead of an annual one-off test.
  • Covers apps, APIs and multi-cloud infrastructure from a single platform, so teams avoid stitching together isolated scanning tools.
  • Files findings into Jira, Slack and CI/CD pipelines, giving developers remediation work inside their existing tools.
  • Adds AI-powered conversational fix assistance and automatic re-scans to confirm each vulnerability is closed.
  • Publishes scan results, security posture and compliance evidence through a shareable Trust Center.
  • Backs the platform with 2 million+ vulnerabilities uncovered, $69 million+ saved in potential losses and a 4.6 G2 rating.

How It Works

Teams add a target, which can be a domain with its full site tree, an IP, a website or an API, and optionally list other hosts such as api.example.com so API calls to that domain are scanned without buying a second target. Astra then runs authenticated scans across 15,000+ test cases covering OWASP Top 10, SANS and CVEs, and expert pentesters validate results to remove false positives. Findings land in the vulnerability management console, sync to Jira, Slack or CI/CD, and trigger automatic re-scans once fixes ship.

Use Cases

  • CTOs at growing SaaS companies replace the annual pentest with incremental tests that keep pace with weekly releases.
  • Security leaders preparing for SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS or HIPAA audits map scan results to compliance controls and share the evidence.
  • API and platform owners discover shadow, zombie and undocumented APIs, then review access controls across traffic sources such as AWS, Nginx and Kubernetes.
  • DevOps and cloud teams scan for misconfigurations and IAM drift across AWS, Azure and GCP before and after every deployment.
  • Engineering teams at healthcare and fintech companies scan authenticated areas behind login to protect regulated customer data.
  • Agencies scan client sites from a rotating five-target pool and swap URLs every 30 days.

Why Choose This Product

Astra targets the gap most pentests leave behind: reports that nobody acts on. Customers describe collaboration with pentesters in Slack, remediation guidance specific to their codebase, and a quick re-test that confirmed every Critical, High and Medium issue was fixed. The trust layer matters too, since a pentest certificate and a public Trust Center give buyers and auditors proof rather than assurances.

Frequently asked questions about Astra Security

What is Astra Security?

Astra Security is a continuous pentest platform that combines AI-powered automated testing with expert-led pentesting. It scans apps, APIs and cloud infrastructure, then routes findings into Jira, Slack or CI/CD so developers can ship fixes, with results shared through a Trust Center.

How is Astra different from an annual pentest?

Astra turns pentesting into an incremental, continuous process instead of a long static PDF once a year. Findings arrive with reproduction steps and remediation guidance, and automatic re-scans confirm when issues are fixed rather than leaving teams without support after the report.

Does Astra scan pages behind a login?

Yes. The DAST scanner runs authenticated scans to test behind login screens, covering 15,000+ test cases that include OWASP Top 10, SANS, CVEs and exposed ports.

What counts as a target?

A target is a domain with all its site tree URLs, though it can also be the URL of a web application, an IP or an API. If your site calls other domains such as api.example.com, you can add them as extra hosts during setup without purchasing another target.

Which tools does Astra integrate with?

Astra connects with Jira, Slack and CI/CD pipelines, and the API Security Platform accepts traffic from sources including AWS, Nginx and Kubernetes. The Cloud Vulnerability Scanner also runs checks inside CI/CD before and after deployments.

Can I try Astra before buying?

Astra offers a one-week DAST Scanner trial for $7 that includes platform access, requires no credit card commitment and can be cancelled anytime.
